We made another paper kiln in the Austrian alps of East Tyrol in July and it was a great success. The kiln was a little over 1 cubic metre and shaped teepee style. All in all the firing went very, we fired for about six hours and some of the pieces deformed due to the high heat. Overall it was the best paper kiln that I have see as far as results are concerned. We had fabulous colours and sheens on most pieces. Next year we aim to fire even higher so we will go for a more refractory clay surface on the kiln. See http://www.mindquarters.net/deutsch/workshops/workshop%20home.html For information on the courses. |
